The Angel, Morley

Sunday nights

Top End of Morley (Bruntcliffe) at the Crossroads. You can't miss it.

Some Sundays we have the best night in Yorkshire. Home of the West Leeds Blues Club.

Do you remember in 'One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest' when they all went fishing? .

Nottingham Rock City

West Leeds Blues Club on Tour 1st July 2000.

Keeping with tradition Nottingham proved to be just a jolly wonderful place to visit, we had laughter, tears of joy, tears of woe, excellent Hot dogs and what's more other people had loads and loads of beer. Thanks to everyone for not getting too pissed and throwing up in the coaches on the way home, (however things may have been different if Junior would have found the coaches).

Setting off from The Angel we were only half'n hour late. Take out beers at the ready, bottle openers warmed in hand awaiting heavy usage, everyone seemed in high spirits, as it were. Travelling down the motorway we had a little fun, however if the boys in blue could have seen us we may have been in a little trouble, as the flashing began, (it must be said that the other smaller bus were boring and sticking your tongue out is Oh so very risky.) A bit of tit & Arse never harmed anyone.

After about 30 minutes the weak bladders wanted releasing and we decided to pull into Woodhall Services. Keeping with tradition we had the first painful experience, Lia dressed in thigh high boots slipped and twisted her ankle, (the following day told in hospital that she had torn a ligament).

Fed and watered we carried on our merry ways. Hitting Nottingham at about 9.50 I had the first crisis, tickets were short and I had to be rescued by Mattie and Debbie, (THANX)

Steve shouts all meet in the first pub on the Left. We all separated as Brian and I parked the buses and Junior and others went to the bank.
Meeting in the First pub on left after about quarter of an hour we were half the party short, two pubs side by side and we were in both pubs, the group gathered again and we all set of to club.

Approaching the club we saw a huge queue of people waiting to get in and we casually walked up to the front and walked in. Once in we all gathered in the RIG, the bar for AOR type music (not to everyone's tastes however enjoyable). Marcus, Steve, Lee, Heather, Brian ventured to the abyss upstairs, the music was more of a modern style, mixture in-between Rock, Grunge, Hip-Hop, (each to their own), Guy followed after a very brief spell in the Live Band Bar, were he caught the last song from AntiProduct. All seemed very happy moshin', slamming and funky dancing.

Back in the Rig AC/DC, Journey, Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, etc etc, all played at the highest volume, the non rockers shook their own foundations, as they rocked and rolled themselves into a drunken stupor. Special mention must go to Mark and Guy (the posties with the mosties) even though the music they were listening was not familiar they partied as though they had hair to their waists, headbanging away, they were making the most of the outing.

For the hours that we were there we were all in love with each other and everyone had the most fabulous of times.

At 2'oclock Brian and I rounded the troops and ventured to the great wide open to find the buses. Junior had gone missing and no one had seen him for the last 30 minutes, after 20 minutes of searching franticly for this pissed adolescent teenager Brian called home to find that Junior had called and claimed that we had all left him and decide to get a taxi Home. We spent another 30 minutes searching for him just in case, Junior was not to be found so we set of home.

On the way home most people fell asleep as the evening took its toll, early morning chat followed as people were trying to stay awake. (What is the meaning of life and what's 42 got to do with it, is the answer really coca cola?) [42, curiously enough could actually be the value of hubble's constant, which gives us the size, and therefore the age and state of the universe.- ed]

Just as we approached Leeds, keeping with tradition once again we had a big bust up, (that's all that can be said), we started dropping people off, at stop off points as it started getting light. These were now very tired people who had a stomping good time.

Brian and I dropped the buses off as 5.30 and I guess both got home for about 6am.

We all had an excellent time, and we all cannot wait until Appletreewick.
